Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MI I must write to express my disgust at your Dealer Guide (CM, July 26).

We are one of the top Iveco Truck specialist dealers in the UK and, like many others, are not included in your guide. I feel you have made a gave mistake in being lured into the Iveco/Ford controversy mentioned in the panel on the front page of the guide.

Ford and Iveco Truck dealers in the main remain unaltered and will continue to satisfy customer requirements for some considerable time irrespective of the ultimate destiny of the Iveco/Ford Truck franchise.

I consider you have incorrectly discarded a considerable number of professional Truck specialist dealers without any thought for the feelings of personnel or customers. At the same time you are misrepresenting those omitted from the guide.

May I say as an avid reader of Commercial Motor every Friday morning for the past 35 years, this is one of the worst mistakes made by the journal to date.

I can fully understand the difficulties that you are experiencing in attempting to obtain information from Iveco/Ford Trucks but has anyone stopped to think what the new company is trying to do? It will in practice be this time next year before the situation really becomes clear and a meaningful list of dealers can be published.

In the meantime let's have a full list of points in Britain where customers new and old can readily obtain either Ford or Iveco Truck advice/service. We in Bedford are happy to offer truck service to any customer irrespective of product seven days a week in an effort to sell as many new Iveco trucks as we can. Nothing will give me greater pleasure than to register more Iveco Trucks than any other dealer in Britain and make a substantial profit in the process.

Your opening comment in the same issue of Commercial Motor was a statement of fact but the manufacturers who award the franchise refuse to take action. We, the customers, cannot obtain discount at Harrods or Marks & Spencer. G White Director Scotts Commercial Vehicles (South) Ltd Woburn Road Bedford.
