Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FINANCIAL restrictions continue to force smaller municipal bus operators to buy secondhand buses as an answer to vehicle replacement needs.

Joining the trend is Lincoln City Transport which has just added three three-year-old Alexander-bodied Bristol VRT double-deckers to its fleet. These 10m buses were part of a fleet of 25 operated by Tayside Regional Council which has found them unsuitable for its Dundee city bus fleet.

Lincoln plans to keep the buses, which are to replace 16year-old Leyland Atlanteans, until they are 15 years old. The undertaking already successfully operates VRTs.

London Transport's policy of premature disposal of mechanically sound Daimler Fleetlines is, ironically, still helping bus operators throughout Britain and overseas as well.

Warrington Borough Council Transport Department is now taking delivery of six of the ex-LT seven-year-old buses.
