HAULAGE COMPANY from Evesham, Worcestershire, was .ined £75 by magistrates at :.'Irays. Essex, last week for )perating a vehicle which was werloaded on its second axle. Ihe company, Eric Cole Trans)ort Ltd, was also ordered to pay 110 costs.
In January the vehicle, iriven by David Graham Curtis, vas stopped at Tankhill Road, )urfleet, and it was found that ts load of paper reels was not ;orrectly spread.
The company's solicitor said he "very moderate" overoading was due to an odd reel if paper which caused an imba lance. He asked the magistrates to take the good record of the company into account.
Both the company and the driver pleaded guilty and in addition to the company's penalty, Mr Curtis was fined £30.
