David Davis is the new divisional managing director of Tate and Lyle Transport. Thirty-one year old Mr Davis, who is responsible for TLT Contracts, Silver Roadways, TLT Distribution, and TLT Truck Services,• has been with the company since 1974, and was previously financial director of starch subsidiary Garton. He succeeds Leslie Fenn who retired on August 12.
Derek Hubris has been made marketing manager of Roadline's Northern region after four years as Rocol Ltd's regional sales manager based at Leeds, while in the south, Geoff Mee becomes Roadline's new regional director. Mr Mee is Roadline's former director of personnel and has been at the company's Swiss Cottage head office for the last four years. He succeeds Arthur Downing who has recently retired after 50 years in the parcels industry.
National Carriers Southern region has appointed Lee Maybanks as sales and marketing director. He takes up his new appointment after recently returning from Libya.

Obituary We record with regret, the death of Ray Sandell, aged 55. Mr Sandall entered the bi.ts industry in 1959 in the headquarters secretariat of the BET group. In 1969 he bebame secretary of the BET Federation and later that year became the first secretary of the National Bus Company. In 1971 he became director of administration at NBC and in 1979 joined the NBC board.
