The labour relations committee of the RHA has re-elected A. R. Butt (Morris Transport Ltd., Sutton Coldfield) as chairman. R. S. Heaton (Heaton's Transport (St. Helens) Ltd.) has been elected vice-chairrnan.
Victor Wood has been appointed chairman of European Welding and Engineering Ltd., which has been formed to co-ordinate Transport and Chemical Engineering Ltd. 's associate companies. Mr. Wood is also chairman and managing director of Yorkshire Engineering and Welding Co. Ltd. Brian Field and Geoffrey Chambers have been appointed directors. Mr. Field is also managing director of H.W.P. Engineering Co. Ltd. and Mr. Chambers is also sales director of Yorkshire Engineering and Welding Co. Ltd.
B. J. P. Woods has been appointed chairman of GKN International Trading Ltd. and R. J. C. Hill managing director of the company and its subsidiaries. L. C. K. Kelly has been appointed director of East Bloc Operations, and R. H. Lethbridge general manager of GKN International Trading in London.
K. W. C. Grand and J. H. Joyce have been appointed deputy chairmen of the board of Coast Lines Ltd.
Norman Cassidy has been appointed fleet engineer for W. L. Valiance Ltd. of Heathfield, near Newton Abbot, Devon, Mr. Cassidy was previously depot engineer with Hargreaves Transport (Smith and Robinson) Tanker division of Bothwell, Leeds. E. J. Hutson. 45, has been appointed a principal assistant in London Transport's computer development group.
William H. Dodd has been appointed marketing manager in a sales division re-organization by Arrow Construction Equipment Ltd. of Blyth. Harold B. L. Winckler and Alexander B. Purves have been promoted to lead the England and Wales division, and the Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland division respectively. They will both direct sales of the Target series of tilting platform trailers.
J. Gould has joined the buying department of the British Trailer Co. Ltd., Trafford Park, Manchester, in place of E. S. Lowry, who has retired.
Dr. A. W. Pearce has been appointed {effective from August 1) managing director of Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd. Duncan A. C. Dewdney, vicechairman and managing director, is resigning from the company (effective from September 30) to take an appointment outside the group. Dr. Pearce was appointed to the board in 1963.
D. S. Deacon has been elected chairman of the City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd. in place of W. M. Dravers who has resigned from the board.
S. J. B. Skyrme has been appointed a director.

P. S. L. Thomas, home sales manager of V. L Churchill and Co. Ltd., is to take up the newly created post of commercial manager. R. G. Heyworth, commercial executive, will succeed Mr. Thomas.
James Thorpe, director and general works manager of Scammell Lorries Ltd., has retired after 42 years" service with Scammell and other British Leyland companies. Mr. Thorpe commenced his career with the group in the inspection department of Leyland Motors in 1927.
A. G. Higgins, London Transport's chief development assistant (road services), has retired after over 50 years' service.
Thomas Bowie has retired after 20 years as transport manager of Gorebridge Co-operative Society, Ltd.. Midlothian.
Percy Scotting, since 1940 transport manager of Perkins Engine Group, Peterborough, has retired after 32 years' service. As gifts from the Group he received a portable radio, binoculars and picnic set, the presentation being made by Group managing director Monty Prichard.

OBITUARY
We record with regret the deaths of Percy Lionel Gay and George Stratton.
Mr. Gay. 69, who lived at Trowbridge. Wilts, was the founder of Gay Brothers, the Holt haulage contracting business.
Mr. Stratton, 87, who retired in 1952, joined Karrier as municipal representative at Huddersfield and moved with this firm to Luton. He was formerly manager and chief engineer of Sunderland and District Tramway Co.
