receivers' application refused

• On Wednesday applications under sec. 173 (1) (c) by C. B. Newcomb and J. M. Fletcher, receivers and managers of Davis Bros. (Haulage) Ltd. and C. Bristow Ltd. of London, El, were refused by the Northern LA because of non-attendance. The companies each had one 4-ton flat on a"general goods; Great Britain" A-licence based at Gateshead. A similar application for the Bristow vehicles at Cardiff was refused by the South Wales LA recently (CM August 2).

• A petition for the winding up of Longtown (Cumberland) hauliers, A. W. Johnston (Hauliers) Ltd. was dismissed at Carlisle County Court on August 5. The County Garage Co. Ltd. of Carlisle, which brought the petition, applied for the dismissal because all debts had been paid.
