• A new ferry for the Southampton-Isle of Wight service, the Norris Castle (760 tons), was launched yesterday by Red Funnel Steamers, Southampton. Passenger capacity of the new vessel will be less than that of her sisters, Cowes Castle, Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne Castle, but the space available for carrying commercial vehicles will be almost twice that of the older ships.
