• Mr. A. N. Todd has accepted the invitation of the Minister of Transport to become part-time chairman of the National Bus Company, when and if the Transport Bill receives the Royal Assent.
Mr. Todd, who is 63, entered the electric ity supply industry in 1948 after some 20 years in accountancy. Since 1965 he has been a full-time member of the Central Electricity Generating Board.
He said at a Press conference last week that he would like the NBC to have a small part-time board with, perhaps, a chief executive. No one had yet been considered as a member of the board,
When asked what he thought of the subsidizing of unprofitable routes. Mr. Todd said: -You've got to provide service at a competitive cost. You've got to have a profit. You can axe something or make it more attractive and make it pay."
As he has had no previous experience in the field of transport, he said that he would now have to "start formulating ideas on transport-.
