Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NINE out of 10 drivers could be wasting fuel with bad driving, according to research conducted using MAN's telematics-based driver monitoring system.

With MAN's own on-board equipment, operators can not only monitor a driver's negative habits such as harsh braking and acceleration, engine idling and over-speeding, but also the correct use of cruise control and gears and the time spent in the engine's 'sweet Sp0L: Last year, MAN analysed the activity of more than 1,000 topweight tractors running at 40 to 44 tonnes from within its own R&M contract database.

After overlaying the data with parameters from its ProfiDrive training programme, the truck manufacturer created seven categories of driver from A to G, with `B' being the target benchmark performer.

However, according to MAN CEO Des Evans: -When we looked at the fuel figures [from the 1,000 survey vehicles], 90% were below what we considered to be a benchmark, with many having no training or unchecked bad habits"
