Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dutch manufacturer Multilift Benelux has developed a combined waste collection/transportation vehicle that allows the body section to be dismounted for intermodal operation.

The Lotus system uses three elements: a bin lift and screw operated compactor that mounts on to the rear of a standard truck chassis; a demountable 28m3 container; and a fabricated dismounting platform.

The system adds 6,250kg to a 6x4 chassis, giving a payload of around 12.5 tonnes.

To transfer a filled waste container to a site, the lift/compactor folds down to the rear on to rollers at the top corners.

The truck is then reversed allowing the tail unit to pass under the dismounting platform.

Using an elevating sub-frame with chain lift hoist, the loaded container is conveyed on to the platform for removal to a waste site and an empty one can be picked up. The whole process is controlled by the driver via a wanderlead.
