Under the EEC driving licence regulations which came into effect on January 1, however, those drivers of drawbar outfits who escaped hgv driving licence requirements because their motive power unit was under 3 tons unladen will have to have an hgv licence from January 1, 1971, and this will be limited to outfits up to 10 tonnes (9.88 tons) gross. Theā€¢ gross weight of the trailer will have to be included in computing the total gross weight under the new Regulations.

QI have a large breakdown' X vehicle and when I have cause to recover an artic unit I have always unloaded the broken-down vehicle before I have towed it in. I am told that this is unnecessary because of the size of my breakdown vehicle. Could you confirm this? A Driving licence require
