Founder Jack retires
After 22 years as managing director of G and K Haulage Jack Creese has retired, leaving a company that he founded with two friends in 1954.
Mr Creese was presented with a silver tray by group managing director Graham Knowles. He leaves the company started with three trucks 22 years ago now with over 40 vehicles and a warehouse and container park with space for 200 units.
Mr Creese will be handing over the reins of the company to David Webb, who joined G. and K. last year. At United Transport Company of Chepstow managing director D. D. Williams has retired. Joint managing directors of United Transport Overseas A. W. Kent and J. R. LeFevre have also retired.
The Road Haulage Association's Western Area has elected its committee for 1976/77. Chairman is H. A. Russett, vice-chairmen D. Syms and R. N. Cullimore. National council delegates will be Mr Russett and C. H. Telling.
The RHA's functional groups have also appointed their officers : milk carriers : chairman E. A. Wall; vice-chairmen, J. 0. Bury, C. C. Wheater. Express carriers: chairman, H. A. Russett, vice-chairmen, K. Fitzmaurice, S. Francks. Agricultural hauliers : chairman, Gordon Sleightholm, vicechairmen, Barry Hempsall, Jack Garn and Jack Henley.
Heavy haulage: chairman, P. Sunter, vice-chairmen, C. W. Oliver, T. B. Llewellyn. Waste disposal, chairman Ken Walford, vice-chairmen, Malcolm Wood, W. F. Jones.
On the passenger front Dennis Flower, commercial officer of National Bus Company's southern region, has been appointed a director of studies at the British Transport Staff College at Woking.
Mr Flower, 44, has been in the industry for 19 years since he joined Southdown Motor Services in 1957 as a senior management trainee.
Thomas Crewe has been appointed operations manager of the southern region of National Travel's north-east area. He moves to his new job from being assistant operations manager for the area.
Crane Fruehauf has appointed David Youens as director of personnel and management services. He will be responsible for personnel in the group as well as the development of group management services which include market planning and public relations.
ERF Fire Engineering has appointed two new directors. They are Graham Adams, who becomes financial director retaining his position of company secretary, and John Cartwright, who becomes sales director.
