Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An improved, up-dated version of the FTA's existing vehicle check system has been developed. The main difference between the old and the new system is that the Association now offers not just a system for checking vehicles, but a comprehensive maintenance system, covering everything from the driver's report of simple defects to a qualified engineer's opinion of the vehicle's future value to the company.

The revised system is similar to the old version in that the inspection is based upon an inspection chart, but there is now only one inspection form, covering both motor vehicle and trailer service maintenance. A new form, the C-Safety Inspection form, has been added to cover motor vehicle and trailer safety maintenance. Also there is a magnetic control board---Prograph.

The system is designed specifically to enable operators to meet the operators'

licence requirements of:—

a) having their vehicles regularly inspected; and b) keeping maintenance and inspection records for all vehicles in their fleet

The components of the new system are as follows:—

a) A revised plastic master chart which indicates the items that should be checked. The chart is crossreferenced both to the FTA check forms and to the DoE Testers' Manual.

b) A new basic inspection form covering both vehicles and trailers.

c) A safety inspection form designed for Use as an intermediate check and covering safety items only.

d) A job card or rectification note.

e) A driver defect report form for use by those not using PTA daily drivers' record books in which such a form is an integral part.

f) Special wallets designed to hold all components of the system relating to a particular vehicle. Space is now included on the wallet for recording dates, etc, of inspections.

g) The PTA Prograph (magnetic wall chart) which has been designed to give at a glance view of the overall maintenance/inspection position_ Fifteenand 30vehicle charts are available from stock while charts covering up to 300 vehicles can be supplied to order.
