Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NO LOCAL CHANGE IN SEASON RATES?

IF there were to be an alteration in season-ticket rates as between road and rail, it should be a matter for legislation to apply such a principle over the whole country, and not merely to one or two counties.

This ,submission was made by Mr. W. Weir, for the L.M.S, Railway Co., in objecting to a proposal to increase to 18 years the age limit for the issue of bus season tickets, to school pupils in the counties of Caithness, Sutherland, Ross and Cromarty, and Inverness.

An official of the railway company declared that, if the principle embodied in toe application were established in the north, it might extend throughout Scotland, The Northern Scotland Traffic Commissioners reserved their decision.

19,300 FOR KEIGHLEY RATES.

KEIGHLEY Corporation, which Pt... holds a half share in KeighleyWest Yorkshire Services, Ltd., with the West Yorkshire Road Car Co., Ltd., has taken for the relief of rates

29,300 from its share in the profits on the undertaking, and of the surplus on the Bradford route, which is operated by the West Yorkshire concern. This compares with 29,120 last year, and is equal to 9.21d. in the E.

It was stated that last year's profits amounted to E9,717 from HeighleyWest Yorkshire Services, Ltd., and 23,998 -from the Bradford route. The total was 213,715 tax paid, and was 23,000 more than last year.

RAN FOR YEARS . WITHOUT CONSENT

A" GILBERTIAN " state of affairs was described by Mr. E. Lustgarten, when he applied on behalf of Blackpool Corporation, to the NorthWestern Traffic Commissioners, for permission to operate public service vehicles in part of Fleetwood.

He revealed that, although the corporation had been running a bus service between Blackpool and Fleetwood for many years, it had never obtained consent to operate over the stretch in question. The error was not detected until Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., used it as the chief ground of objection to the grant to the corporation of a licence for a stage-carriage service.

The application was granted on the condition that it did not become operative for a full month.

" TRENT " REVENUE RECORD.

LAST year's total revenue cf 2525,723 was a record for the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd. This fact was announced by Mr, R. J. Howley, chairman of the company, last week.

He said that, during the year, steady progress had been made with the consolidation of bus businesses purchased during recent years. The acquisition of these undertakings had involved an increase of garage accommodation, and new depots were being constructed at Derby, Loughborough, Shipley and Hucknall.
