AN OPERATOR working in London’s Low Emission Zone says the recovery sector has the appetite to conduct a one-day strike to persuade the Mayor not to slap £200-aday ines on vehicles in 2012.
Phil Elliott, MD for PPE Recovery in south London, says Transport for London is ignoring his pleas to make recovery vehicles exempt when the rules change in 2012. He says the ilters he uses to ensure compliance do not work in London, as it is impossible to get to the engine hot enough for the ilter to function properly. “If Boris Johnson doesn’t listen, then there will be no other option but to take action.”
