Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE VEHICLE inspection scheme set up by the Freight Transport Association in the early part of this year, is now taking care of over 1,000 dangerous substance tankers.

The service was set up to meet the requirements of the Dangerous Substances (Conveyance by Road in Road Tankers and Tank Containers) Regulations 1981 which deals with the examination, testing and certification of tanks and tankers which carry dangerous goods by road.

The FTA service also helps operators with the drawing up of the required 'written scheme' which operators must produce to show how they will have their vehicle examined.

The FTA is one of the bodies able to produce the necessary certification which operators need to have by January 1, 1985.

The service is open to tank operators in many industries, including chemicals and distillers, and is open to non-members too.
