THE SCOTTISH success in the main competition was matched by 20-year-old Stuart Davidson of Aberdeen, who won the Edgar Williams Challenge Shield for the Young HGV Driver Safe Driving Competition sponsored by the Road Transport Industry Training Board and BRS Truck Rental Ltd for the second time.

Stuart, who has been driving for three years, is employed by George T. Fraser of Aberdeen, and took part in Class D of the main competition.

Driver Bernrnond of 32 Squadron, Royal Corps of Transport, Driffield, North Humberside, won the award for the top army driver under 21.

Intended to support the National Joint Training Committee for Young HGV Drivers scheme whereby 16-year-olds may join, gain an hgv Class III licence at 18, and progress towards hgv Class I at 21, the competition was a small-scale version of the main contest.
