Casualties rise
ROAD casualty figures for Great Britain rose by two per cent in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year.
The number of deaths within 30 days of an accident fell by one per cent, while the number of seriously injured and slightly injured casualties rose by two per cent.
These are provisional figures and are subject to review once more information becomes available.
Dorada looks good
DORADA Holdings chairman Thomas Kenny is looking forward to a "favourable" second half to the financial year of his motor group.
Profits rose by 35 per cent in the 'first half of the year from £406,000 to £550,000.
It is reorganising its commercial vehicle outlets in Glasgow, and proposes to move the premises of S and N Motors and Croft to a site on London Road.
RHA recruits
ROAD Haulage Association membership has grown in recent months to around 15,000.
In June and July, 319 new members jo'ined RHA following determined efforts by area secretaries to recruit smaller hauliers.
Entry fees have been waived temporarily by the RHA National Council.
Euro minibus regs
TRANSPORT Minister William Rodgers is considering whether leaflets explaining European rules on minibuses can be made more widely and conveniently available.
Changing
THE BRITISH Association of Owner Drivers has changed the venue for its first regional recruitment drive. It will now be held at the Royal Hotel, Station Road, Ashby-de-laZouch and not in Derby as CM was originally told.
