Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A The costs vary, of course, according to the mileage. Taking 600 miles a week

throughout the year, including slack periods, as a fair average for vehicles run by a small coach operator, the total operating cost per mile for the 14-seater is 16.69d. For the 31-seater the corresponding figure is 25.55d.

We are assuming the vehicles have petrol engines. Corresponding operating costs with diesel engines are 15,54d and 23.32d.

If the average weekly mileage is 1,000, then the total operating costs per mile are much lower—(petrol engine) 14-seater 13.21d, 31-seater 21.24d (diesel engine) 14-seater 12.03d, 31-seater 18.98d.
