Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AAnyone may now legally put on a road or

motorway a portable red triangular sign to warn traffic of a temporary obstruction. It must conform to the specified size, colour and type, and be permanently stamped with the British Standards specification No. BS UA : 1965.

Their use is restricted to involuntary obstructions such as breakdowns or accidents. They must be at least 50 yards on the approach side of the obstruction to warn approaching traffic on the same side of the carriageway.

On dual carriageways and motorways at least 150 yards is recommended.

The obstruction and the sign should be removed as soon as practicable. The authority to place such a sign on a road is permissive and not compulsory.
