From our Political Correspondent

TNVESTIGATIONS this week I showed that there is little, if any, chance of the Road Haulage Wages Council's latest decision being implemented before the Prices and Incomes Board gives its verdict on charges, costs, wages and productivity in the industry.

The Council still has to receive and consider objections to its proposals before making a formal submission to the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ray Gunter.

If this is completed before the PIB has reported—and the Council decides to push ahead rather than wait for the Board's verdict—the Minister would almost certainly "sit on" the plan until the advice of Mr. Aubrey Jones and his colleagues was available.
