By a recent Government decree the tax on the consumption of petrol in Italy has been reduced by 50 per cent. This tax varies from three to six lire per quintal, according to the population of the city or town, but the change cannot come into operation before official promulgation.
A further. measure affecting the duty on fuels for motor ploughing has been approved. This provides for exemption from all existing duties on sales where the fuels are intended exclusively for this purpose.
