"Tram tracks are veritable traps on the road," declared Mr. Ratcliffe Cousins, the West London Police Court magistrate, in dismissing, on payment of costs, a summons against a motorist who, passing on the off side of a sta= tioaary tremear, had collided with a lorry which, turninc, out of a side street, crossed in front of the tram.
"Trams provide very great difficulties for other traffic," said the magistrate, "and they lack entirely the mobility which is so essential to relieve the congestion that exists in the streets at the present time. An enormous number of accidents are undoubtedly caused by tramcars."
