Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Caterpillar is redesigning its 14-litre 3406 diesel, currently fitted by Foden, to take it into the 500hp (373kW) class.

The 3406Z is due to be unveiled next year. It will incorporate camshaft-actuated electronic unit injectors like those in Cat's 10.3-litre 3176 engine.

To minimise re-tooling costs cylinder size and bore spacing dimensions will not be changed, but the cylinder block and other major components have been re-engineered for the new fuel system and extra power.
