• TNT Roadfreight UK, the major operating arm of TNT (UK), has changed its name to TNT Express (UK). According to managing director Alan Jones, the old name "did not describe what we are doing now".
Since its recent agreement to buy 72 BAe jet aircraft for its international freight operations, Jones says, "We are not just a road carrier, we are also
now an airline — but there is still one common thread throughout our operations which is the express factor, even in our Truckcare division."
TNT Express (UK) will continue to control its existing 21 divisional companies including TNT Overnite, TNT Sameday, TNT Garment Express and the more recently-established TNT Newsfast, TNT Brewery Distribution and TNT Extracare.
