and Bus Group. He took over from the company's personnel chief Pat Lowry.
Mr Lowry has been the stand-in head of Truck and Bus since former managing director Ron Ellis left the company to become head of sales at the Ministry of Defence.
Mr Pitcher, 41, took up his new appointment on Monday morning and immediately began a series of meetings with senior managers and employees representatives.
He was formerly deputy chairman and also a vice president of Europe-Asia-Africa Division of Sperry Univac.
Mr Pitcher was born in Liverpool and studied electrical engineering at Liverpool College of Technology and management at Liverpool College of Commerce.
During the 1950s he worked for A. V. Rowe and later with the Automatic Telephone and Electric Company — not part of the Plessey group.
He joined Sperry Rand in 1961. Mr Pitcher is a chartered engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of America and the Institute of Marketing and the Royal Institute for the Advancement of Science.
Harold Enefer is rejoining Dennis as a director of service and will head the parts and service divisions to strengthen and improve still further the parts and service activities.
Roland Hutchings is rejoining Dennis as municipal and commercial UK sales manager. Both Mr Enefer and Mr Hutchings are very well known in the municipal field and already have a wide knowledge of Dennis products.
Following the recent announcement by Dennis that they will shortly be re-entering the bus market, Bob Crouch is joining the company as direc tor of bus sales. . .
Derek Napier has been annnintpri marlratinn of Silver Roadways, Haulage Division of Tate & Lyle Transport — from marketing manager TLT Contracts.
Initially he will concentrate on the acquisition and development of traffic to EEC countries, in particular France. He will be responsible to Don Boucher, general manager of Silver Roadways.
The move follows Silver Roadways joint operations agreement with Union Professionnelle des Transports Publics Routiers (UPR) of Orleans, France.
Mike Boddlington has been appointed general manager for the Henry Long Group in Bradford, part of Ocean Transport & Trading Limited. He succeeds Mr R. P. Edwards, who has joined Ocean Liners.
Mr Boddington has been operations manager for McGregor Cory, Europe, also part of the Ocean Group, since 1975. He took up his new appointment on Friday, and will be based at the Henry ford. He remains a member of the McGregor Cory Europe management team.
Pickfords Removals has appointed John Charnley manager of their Manchester branch.
Mr Charnley was formerly north west depot director of Bullens Transport Services Ltd, and he takes over from Mr L. Boyes who has resigned. He is married with one daughter and lives in the Woodley area of Stockport.
On the passenger front, Clive Miller has been appointed secretary of Thames Valley & Aldershot Omnibus Company with effect from November 1. He is at present secretary of the East Yorkshire Company.
Mr Miller joined NBC in 1971 as assistant secretary of Northern General Transport Company Ltd moving to his present position in 1972.
