HAULIERS must keep a close watch on their charges if they are to remain solvent — that was the message from Road Haulage Association vicechairman Mr Ken Rogers last week.
He told a sub-area meeting in Chelmsford: "Far too many hauliers are living in the economic past when it was only necessary to examine rates once a quarter or even once every six months. The price of solvency is eternal vigilance," he said.
Mr Rogers said that every operator must keep a close watch on his costs and make sure that the rates stay in line with the costs or the haulier will become even worse off.
