ASCHEDULE of minimum general ' motor haulage rates, by time or distance has been issued by the North East of Scotland Road Transport Association, 154, Union Street, Aberdeen, and is chargeable as from October 1. Accompanying the schedule formula is an extenlive list of places in Scotland, with accepted distances from Aberdeen and appropriate tonnage rates. Following this is a schedule (on a tonnage basis) covering a range of
1 to 60 miles and from 1 ton and under 2 tons to 4 tons and over, applicable to traffic of all classes.
Carriage of all grain will be charged at a tonnage basis at these rates, instead of at a rate per quarter. Reverting to the general formula, the rates are per' hour and per mile respectively. They are as follow and only the driver: —1 ton, 5s. 60., 9d.; 14 tans, 6s. 6d., 100.; 2 tons, 7s., 110.; 3 tons, 8s., Is. 20.; 4 tons,
9s.. Is. 3(1.; 5 tons,. 10s., is. 40.; 6 tons, its., Is. 6d.; 7-8 tons, 12s. 6d., is. 8d.; 9-10 tons, 14s., Is. 10d.; 11-12 tons, 15s., 2s.; 13-15 tons, 16s, 6d., 2s. 6d.; trailer, 4s., 6d.; extra man, 2s. 6d. per hour. Notes appended are to theeffect that contractors will charge time. or -mileage, whichever is greater, .The, rates apply to work normally undertaken at job rates,For work which is normally carried out on a tonnage basid, the tonnage scales [referred to but not given here..—ED.] will apply. It will be optional to • operators to charge additional rates 'in respect of vehicles of special. construction, e.g., tippers, vans, etc. Sunday work: 2s. 60,. per hour or 4d. per mile extra. Where a lorry is hired on a time basis for less than 54 hours on Sundays, customer will be charged for difference in driver's wages. For time rates, the charge is reckoned from garage to garage.
