Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

VAN RENTAL specialist Northgate has been awarded a major fleet-management contract with Tesco.com: it will operate 130 vans for Tesco over a six-year period.

Northgate will use 130 longbodied Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311CDIs at 19 Tesco stores between the M1 and Al in the South and the Midlands.

The vans, supplied directly by Mercedes-Benz UK, will be fitted with GAH refrigeration units and Solomon insulated bodies, with separate compartments for ambient, chilled and frozen products. The bodies will be used for the entire six-year contract, but Northgate will replace the Sprinter chassis-cabs every two years.

Nick Skillman, business development director for Northgate, says: "Our innovative way of sourcing vehicles and managing them through a more aggressive life cycle means that Tesco can benefit through greater fleet uptime, improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

This allows Tesco to provide better service levels for shoppers and reduce its overall costs while at the same time helping the environment."

Tesco.com,Tesco's e-commerce operation, operates 2,000 vans including 1.700 Sprinters.

Northgate, Tesco.com's third contract-hire partner, will take delivery of 5,000 Sprinters this year —the largest single order MercedesBenz has won in Europe.
