• City Vehicle Engineering, the manufacturer of the Omni minibus, went into receivership last week, leaving over 80 staff redundant.
The three-year-old company, which is based at Shildon, County Durham, has gross debts of several million pounds and only enough work to keep it operating until the end of this month.
But receiver Price Waterhouse is optimistic about finding a buyer, and 71 staff have been kept on to process existing orders. Last month CVE launched a tri-axle version of its Omni minibus.
