Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The switch to distribution from straightforward haulage is already paying dividends at Flowers Distribution. The company's recent £2 million contract with Ada (CM, October 4) has been augmented by additional contracts with Martell, Rigbys and Van der Oortele.

Flower's commercial director John Hoffman says the move to distribution should help to treble the size of the company's turnover this year.

The money for this 21million expansion has been provided by Flower's parent company, Transport Development Group.

Flowers has purchased a new £400,000 computer system to control its distribution business. Software for the system was developed by another TUG company, Proceus Services, which is just beginning to offer its services on a third party basis.

So far this year Flowers has increased its staff by 65 people (an increase of 62%) and purchased or contract hired an additional 25 new 16 tonne curtain sided vehicles from Leyland and Volvo.
