Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Rentco Nationwide, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fruehauf Corporation, has won a £2.5 million deal to supply the parcels carrier Carryfast with 120 Crane Fruehauf box vans and eight Boalloy Tautliners on contract-hire with full maintenance back-up.

The contract with Rentco is Carryfast's first for semi trailers. Their decision to place the order with Rentco, was based on previous experience with Rentco on spothire, the close proximity of Rentco locations to Carryfast's principal depots along with Rentco's ability to help dispose of a large proportion of Carryfast's own semi-trailer fleet.

Carryfast managing director Martin Oldroyd says that when the company was considering the development of new sites it focussed on the high costs of maintaining a depot workshop, Carryfast now has nine depots with principal sites at Feltham, Dewsbury and Nuneaton following a recent rationalisation programme.

By dispensing with workshops at their new depots, Carryfast concluded it could set up more depots. LII Crane Fruehauf has won a £500,000 contract for conversions and maintenance of 25 tandem axle freight vans, 20 curtainsiders and 20 refrigerated trailers for Trailerent.

The contract is primarily with CF's South Minuns branch, although the work will also be carried out at sites throughout the UK.
