Garry Turvey, secretary of the Freight Transport Association since 1968, has been additionally appointed deputy director-general. In this new role he will take prime responsibility for the member service aspects of the FT/Vs work and deputise across the board for the director-general as necessary. In a second change at the Association's head office, technical services controller R. E. G. Brown has been appointed to the new post of development controller with responsibility for the expansion of FTA membership and services.
Andy Banks, chief designer of R. A. Dyson and Co Ltd, becomes methods engineering manager and is succeeded by Dick Roberts. Rupert Moulton, previously with Dunlop Rubber Co Ltd, has joined Dyson as manager, special sales.
Denis Hitchings has been elected chairman of the Metropolitan section of the Chartered Institute of Trans port, succeeding F. Dallison. The new vice chairman is P. B. Pearman.
F. W. Plaxton has relinquished the title of managing director of Plaxtons (Scarborough) Ltd but continues as chairman and chief executive. H. B. Snell and J. R. Birley, formerly joint assistant managing directors, become joint managing directors.
H. Clarney Mason Bros (Haulage and Storage) Ltd, Rotherham has been reelected chairman of the Road Haulage Association commercial committee for the next two years. J. B. M idgley (J. B. Midgley and Sons Ltd, Leeds) remains vicechairman.
A. H. Griffiths, divisional managing director of the General Engineering Division of the Brockhouse Group, has been appointed to the board of the parent company, J. Brockhouse & Co Ltd.
Sydney Lamb,'43, becomes chief engineer of Ribble Motor Services on December 1. He is chief engineer of Midland Red.
