THE GLC revealed on Thursday of last week that London Transport bus and Tube fares are to go up by more than a third next April.
Sir Reg Goodwin, GLC leader, said fares would be increased by 36 per cent, on the council's instructions, which would yield an extra £36 million.
Free fares are to be ex tended to children up to the age of five, compared to the age limit of three imposed at the moment.
Children up to the age of 16 will be allowed to travel as far as they like for only three pence.
The double night-fare, which has unfairly hit industrial workers, will be abolished.
