• The TRTA has protested to the MoT that in the Midlands lorry drivers have been stopped and directed up to a distance of one mile for a spot check.
Although a section of the Road Safety Act gives the Minister power to make regulations to comply with such directions, such regulations in fact have not been enacted. Therefore the TRTA has asked the Minister to see to it that police or vehicle examiners do not request such diversions.
