Board has agreed with the Minister of Transport that its financial target for the five-year period 1963-67 shall be to earn an average balance of revenue of £4m. annually, after depreciation and interest charges. The balance of revenue will be used for essential works, including the replacement of assets. New Underground System for Glasgow?: A suggestion that Glasgow should consider building a completely new underground system, linked by interchange stations to the present system, was made this week by the general manager of the city's transport department, Mr. E. Dickson Tours Switch : Watson's Tours (Dundee) Ltd, has acquired all two-day, half-day and evening tours and football excursions previously operated by Robert Dickson, jnr., of Dundee. All outstanding contract hires booked with Dickson will also be carried out by Watson's. A number of vehicles have been taken over by Watson's from Dickson to meet new commitments. Watson's new central booking office will be at 45 Reform St. These premises, previously occupied by Dickson, will thus be shared by Watson's and Wallace Arnold, Leeds, who recently took over all Dickson's Continental and British tours of more than two days' duration. All agency bookings will be carried on by Wallace Arnold. Coaches with Trailers? British European Airways are considering replacing their present 37-seat.coaches in 1965 with 57-seat double-deckers based on the Green Line Routemaster coach design, hauling special luggage trailers. The use of trailers would allow luggage to be transported direct to aircraft.

Duple Profit: After a loss of E27,640 in 1961-62, Duple Motor Bodies Ltd. made a net profit after tax of £77,921 in the year ended June 30 last. Total dividend for the year has been increased from 61 per cent to 8 per cent. New Standerwick Coaches : The first of 10 new 49-seat, 36-ft. single-deck coaches, the "last word in comfort for motorway journeys of eight hours or so" were now joining the Standerwick fleet, reported Mr. George Brook, managing director, at the company's annual dinner-dance last week. All will be in service by next Easter. Mr, Brook also reported that last year's drop in traffic had now been checked, though some excursion traffic was down. He also revealed that the company's night services from the Fylde Coast and E. Lanes might soon be operated throughout the year.

One-man at Chesterfield: Agreement has now been reached between Chesterfield Corporation and the T.G.W.U. on a 15 per dent pay increase for those drivers who have volunteer to man the corporation's new one-man buses. The union has been assured that there will be no redundancy. Ten of the new one-man single-deckers are now to start work, operating on selected stagecarriage routes and some works services.
