T" quarrel between Manchester Corporation and A. Mayne and Son. Ltd.. as to who should provide a new through service to link North Droylsden housing estates with the town centre and Manchester, has been settled. The North Western Traffic Commissioners were told on Monday that agreement had been reached to apply for a joint service. The corporation were granted consent to run in the area, and their applications for new solo services were withdrawn.

Mayne's, the only private stage-carriage operators left in the greater Manchester area, have operated a joint DroyisdenManchester main road service with the corporation since 1931.

When the corporation promoted a Parliamentary Bill in 1946 to run trolleybuses in competition with Mayne's feeder services, the House of Lords ordered that they could expand only in agreement with the company.

Last year, the corporation were granted consent to operate a new through service. but Mayne's objected and asked to he released from an undertaking given to the Traffic Commissioners in 1935 not to apply for such a service. Approval of this allowed them to make a counter application.

PRESSURE TANKERS FOR CEMENT DELIVERY

EXPORT VEHICLE DEVELOPED . FAULTS

FAULTS which developed in a new vehicle for the export market cost a large amount of money and curtailed sales, said Mr. R. H. Seddon, chairman of Seddon Diesel Vehicles, Ltd., in his annual report this week. The year ended July last was the most difficult since the company were made public: home orders fell to almost nil during the Stle7, At the moment, however, the home and export positions were healthier than during the previous 12 months.
