A Range of Trailers from 5-6-ton to 15 ton Capacity and Two Well" designedSemi-trailers

Qentirelynew design is the 5-6tort al-steel trailer with a frame 14 ft, 9 ins, long and 4 ft. 1 in. Wide, exhibited by the Cranes concern, The spring anchorage is of a 'special type', eliminating the need for shackles,

pins and eyes on the springs. The brake is of the self-centring' type and is automatically applied should the trailer become detached from the prime mover. The turntables are Of pi essed steel, with a heavy roller bearing, and the wheels run on Timken roller bearings and carry 36-in. by 8-in. tyres. An impressive exhibit is the allsteel eight-wheeled trailer for 15-ton payllbarls and mounted upon 10.50-in. by 13-in, tyres. The chassis is 21 ft. 6 ins, long and 7 ft. 5 ins wide, the longitudinal members being of pressed steel. The brakes' take effect on all eight wheels, those at the front being operable through ItIrestingheiuse vaetium gear, and those on the rear wheels by the tractor hand lever: • A noteworthy feature of this vehicle is also the springing arrangements. There are four wheelS at the front and four at the rear, each pair having a rocking axle which is attached to an undersIung spring.

Another eight-wheeler is to he seen in the 10-12-ton low-loader, mounted on 25-in. by 6-in, twin tyres and carrying a platform 20 ft. long and

7 ft. 6 ins. wide; with a floor height of 2 ft. 9,ins. unladen. In the" main, this trailer follows the 'design • of the 15-tanner, but has been specially designed for the. transport of machinery. In this case, brakes operate on Jour wheels through the medium Of Westing

house gear. .

With an Albion 3I-4-ton 23-65 h.p. chassis of 10-ft. 9-in, wheelbase as the tractive unit, a Crane 6-ton articulated six-wheeler attachment is to be seen: The attachment is quickly detachable and the frame members are of Dorman Long Chromador steel, tapered to minimize height. The platform, which is 19 ft. long and 7 ft. 2 ins, wide, has 'a front panel 3 ft.high and hinged

and detachable sides 2 ft. high. In this case, twin 34-in. by 7-in. tyres are .employed, whilst Clayton-Dewandre brakes are amongst the features included in the specification.

For use in connection with a mechanical horse there is on show a 3-ton semi-trailer attachment which, in view of the rapidly increasing popularity of the three-wheeled tractor, is bound to attract attention.—Cranes (Dereham), Ltd., South Green Works, Dereham, Norfolk.
