Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Rikki Chequer, community manager of TruckNet UK, reports on the current hot topics at the driver forum.

For the past couple of years on the forums, posts regarding drivers having trouble with finding work have been relatively rare. They were mainly confined to new licence holders with little or no experience. But more recently, there have been posts from experienced drivers reporting difficulties in obtaining full-time employment. Is this a sign that the threatened economic slowdown is beginning to bite?

In the 'Euro Drivers' forum, it's reported that there are new procedures at the Well am Rhein border. Loaded vehicles leaving Switzerland will be subject to a load manifest and full vehicle document check before clearance starts. Drivers report that they have been told that clearance could take as long as 12 hours, and that there are some concerns over the amount of available parking.

In the 'Old Time' forum, a driver reports that, back in the early 70s, he noticed a Hays Transport custom cab from Dagenham Ford. First off, he thought it was also a Perky V8, but it was a six-wheeler and he was shocked when he peeked under the cab to see two Ford engines side by side and two gearboxes and prop-shafts to both rear axles. Some drivers are sceptical about this beast, putting it down to urban myth. But others are insistent that it did exist and say, in fact, that BRS also ran one for a while. Do you know for sure or does anyone have any photos?

Also, in the same forum, the organiser of the Goodwood Revival meeting asks if anyone using TruckNet UK has a vehicle dating from 1948 or earlier, He asks: "What we need are vehicles that might have been around in 1948. Can you help, or can you put me in touch with owners of suitable vehicles? lf they're a bit later, but of a type that was on sale in 1948, that's fine, too."

If you can help with this, his contact details are on the post in the forum.

By the time you read this, TruckFest will have come and gone. My TruckNet UK round-up next week will include some of the members' thoughts and views on the show.
