. steel makers and transport operators recently enabled a British plant producing Tank components to receive a specially treated consignment of steel
within four days. The steel ingots were made in the Mid-West and rolled into rods, were then sent overnight by express road transport to a wiredrawing establishment in New England and there drawn into wire. A second express truck carried the wire to another Platt ficar heat treating to specification. The consignment made the final lap to Britain by aeroplane.
