By Hayley Pink HULL-BASED container haulier AR Lunn Transport & Warehousing has entered administration “with great regret” after 30 years of trading, blaming rising fuel prices and a challenging operating environment.
Administrator PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) was appointed on 1 March following a series of talks with the company’s bank.
The East Yorkshire irm made the decision to cease trading over the weekend of 25-26 February, parking up its entire leet, as the business was not able to guarantee drivers would be paid, according to a company spokesman, who wished to remain anonymous.
The administrator says the irm’s customer base “quickly eroded” , resulting in 115 redundancies. PwC conirms it is now contacting creditors and looking to sell off company assets.
AR Lunn held three O-licences for a combined 103 trucks and 175 trailers across operating centres in Hull, Middlesbrough and Immingham. In its latest set of accounts iled at Companies House for the year ended 31 October 2010, AR Lunn made a pre-tax proit of £18,053 on a turnover of £9.7m; compared with a restated 2009 pre-tax proit of £75,661 on a turnover of £7.4m.
