Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEARLY 70 DRIVERS working out of NFT's depot at Elstree, Herts on a contract for Sainsbury's are being asked to move to the supermarket's operationscentre in Waltham Point, Essex.

A spokesman for the Transport & General Workers Union (T&G) says it is in the early stages of consultation with NFT — the company plans to stop using the Elstree depot at the end of April.

An NFT spokeswoman says the move is necessary because Sainsbury's wants to rationalise its distribution operations.

She reports that all but 20 of the 68 drivers involved have already been spoken to by NFTs human resources team; she says the consultation process "has gone very well". Drivers are being offered a chance to move to the Waltham Point depot or to other jobs with NFT.

"All drivers or warehouse workers will be guaranteed a position somewhere," she says.

However, one NFT driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted CM to says: "A lot of people here are very unhappy about this." The T&G spokesman says the union has "some concerns about the situation hut we don't want to comment too much at this point, as discussions with the company have only just started".

NFT was originally awarded the Sainsbury's contract in 2002:it was renewed for a further three years at the beginning of this year. The work involves consolidating and delivering 48,000 pallets and dollies of chilled products every week to a dozen national and regional distribution centres.
