• Hays Specialist Distribution has won a contract to distribute furniture for Marks & Spencer's home delivery service.
The multi-million pound contract starts in June. It was won against stiff competition from NFC subsidiary Homespeed, which currently holds the business (CM 18-24 January).
Hays will be responsible for the delivery of Marks & Spencer's furniture from a dedicated distribution centre at Draycott-in-the-Clay, Derbyshire.
Hays has acquired 21 Mercedes-Benz 17-tonner ngids for the contract, all in the Marks & Spencer livery. It already delivers all the chainstore's garden furniture in the UK.
0 Hays Distribution Services is about to be restructed to increase the interaction between the company's divisions. The company is also looking to develop into new areas, with brewery distribution and tankers high on the list.
