Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

-UHL IN Revenue has

agreed a new figure of s:13.40 per night as the maximum tax-free subsistence payments which may he made to lorry drivers.

It has told the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association that this figure applies from January 1 and that it is virtually in line with die rise in die retail price index in the year to Deccinber 1985. Before, it was 02.70.

Where a higher figure than 1:12.70 has already been agreed with an employer's local tax inspector, it may increase this by 5.7 per cent.

'Hie Inland Revenue also reminds employers that they must satisfy themselves that payments are made where the driver is working away from home or his normal place of work, that additional expenses have been incurred and that the amount paid is only a reasonable reimbursement of additional expenditure incurred by the driver.

The highest overnight subsistence payment agreed in regional wage talks is 1:13.
