THE EEC COMMISSION I decided to turn a blind eye .delays in Ireland in kit: ducing the tachograph and proceedings will he taken fore the European Court Justice.
Assurances have been gi to Brussels that EEC rules N be followed in Ireland January 1, 1981 — a full y■ ahead of the British deadlin.
Delays have been caused industrial resistance to .t tachograph and problenis setting up calibration and : ting stations.
In a statement last mgr. the Commission says t measures proposed by Dub "constitute as prompt a pi gramme as can reasonably expected for remedying t infringement".
The original dates set Brussels for introduci• tachographs was January 1976, for new lorries a• January 1, 1977, for vehicles.
