In the face of competition from 44 males, motor trade apprentice Susan Lister has won the apprentice of the year award with the Motor Division of the Barr and Wallace Arnold Trust. Susan works at Wallace Arnold's Vauxhall / Bedford distributorship at Hunslet Road, Leeds, and is the first girl apprentice in the BWAT Motor Division.

According to the City and Guilds of London Institute, she is also the first female apprentice in the UK to pass its Parts Personnel examination. '
