Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PEUGEOT is the first European manufacturer to compete with the JaPanese in the one-ton pick-up market, and has launched its 504 petrol and diesel models.

The 1618cc petrol version develops 46.2kW (62bhp) at 5200rpm and has a maximum torque of 119.6Nm (88.21b/ft) at 2500rpm. It runs on two-star petrol. The diesel version has a 1948cc engine which produces 36.6kW (49bhp) at 4500rpm, and has a maximum torque of 107.8Nm (79.5lb/ft) at 210Orpm.

Wet cylinder liners, aluminium cylinder head, cast-iron block, and fivebearing crankshaft are common to both models, as is a four-speed synchromesh gearbox with floor-mounted gearchanging and rack and pinion steering.

The 504 is a development of the 404 which it replaces in Europe, but which will con tinue to be produced in developing areas of the world.

Improvements have been made in carrying capacity, comfort, and overall styling. The 504 is claimed to have the longest wheelbase in its class (3m) and has an all-steel body and overall length of 4.75m (15.6ft) and width of 1.71m (5.6ft).

This includes a platform length of 2m (6.5ft), giving a useful floor area of 2.7sqm (8.8sqft) or a payload capacity of 1100kg (24251b), and a platform height of 0.7m (2.3ft).

It has rear-wheel drive, independent front suspension incorporating McPherson struts and Peugeot shock absorbers, anti-roll bar, and longitudinal leaf springs at the rear. It has drum brakes on all four wheels.

The basic price of the petrol version is £3150 plus vat, and the diesel 504 is £3695 plus vat.
