A CHANGE to heavier lorries could speed the trend towards more environmentally acceptable vehicles, according to the Confederation of British Industry.
Giving oral evidence for CBI, J. Sainsbury Ltd transport director Len Payne said that larger lorries would speed the modernisation of fleets.
Asked whether there might be an increase in freight moved, Mr Payne said this would still be less severe than if it happened with the present limits.
