POST OFFICE van drivers are public enemy number one, according to a survey published by the magazine Cab Driyer. Strangely enough, the:Post Office is one of the most successful supporters of the RoSPA safe-driving award scheme and is a long-established entrant in the Commercial Motor Lorry Driver of the Year Competition. If its drivers were as bad as London cabbies suggest, they would not even reach the start line.
Second in the top ten list of cabbies' hates are drivers of security vans, with lorry drivers lying fourth and newspaper van drivers fifth. With touching modesty, cab drivers admit that some of their colleagues racy be selfish and are even more reprehensible as drivers than nuns and rabbis.
But what terrorises a London cabby more than anything is the sight of two pipe-smoking lta
lian nuns on a shopping expedition in a dirty Post Office van and racing a newspaper van for pole position at the next set of traffic lights in Regent Street.
