Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DATENT No. 909,622 discloses details of an all-hydraulic transmission sysem. (The Austin Motor Co. Ltd., 1.ongbridge, Birmingham.)

The drawing shows a plan view of the ayout in which the transversely mounted ngine (1) drives a variable-output hydrauic pump (2). This is piped to a hydrotatic motor (3) located in the sump of he engine. The motor drives, via a final reducion gear (4), a conventional differential ear and universally jointed half-shafts. A second patent numbered 909,623 iscloses a similar scheme employing two ydrostatic motors, one to each side of ie vehicle. This obviates the need for a ifferential gear.
